GUIDELINES FOR PHYSICAL ACTIVITY

Quality in healthcare delivery is talked about so much. Providers and patients want the best quality care possible in delivering care and getting care. Interprofessional collaboration is on the top of the list when researchers evaluate systems for the care of back pain like appropriate use of screening and preventive services. (1) Researchers have also assembled 70 quality markers for chiropractic delivery that are standardized and evidence-based that take into consideration patient worries and higher clinical outcomes. (2) Physical activity certainly is a part of a quality chiropractic healthcare plan for San Jose pain relief.

BENEFITS OF PHYSICAL ACTIVITY FOR BACK PAIN AND NECK PAIN

In a recent survey, chiropractors reported that the biggest concern they held in treating back pain patients was patient follow through (coming to appointments, doing exercises, following at-home instructions, etc.). (3) In another survey, 90% of chiropractors reported that they had a positive opinion about healthier patient lifestyles. These chiropractors also reported that they were actively engaged in promoting physical activity, recommending exercises to patients for their particular issue, asking how the exercises are going, and advising patients in the proper technique to do exercises as well as benefit that comes from exercising. (4) One way that patients seem to follow through more positively and be more willing to do physical activity is the use of a mobile application. Apps that are build built around reported pain, pain intensity, and app features like audio explanation and animation of each exercise are well received. (5)  Doing the right exercises in the right way typically brings about the rightfully desired outcome.

ADD IN SOME DIAPHRAGMATIC BREATHING!

Core stabilization exercises are usually recommended to back pain patients. A new study that incorporated diaphragmatic breathing exercises found many advantages for chronic low back pain patients: enhanced muscle activity, chest expansion, quality of sleep, improved disability and physical activity and pain scores, less fear avoidance, and better physical activity, among others. (6) As a partner on your healthcare team, your chiropractor at Chiropractic Solutions feels a duty to encourage physical activity so that you can manage your own health a bit more. Our younger back pain and neck pain sufferers benefit. Our older adults with aches and pains and/or San Jose back pain and/or neck pain benefit, too!
